This AU is my new favourite thing ever.

Tonight's offering: the Young Justice girls. (Minus Empress, 'cos I haven't figured out how the race politics work in this universe yet.)

The Lady Elias Finishing School for Young Ladies caters to the upper middle class. The halls positively exude the kind of dowdy respectability the captains of industry want ingrained into their daughters, in hope of acquiring for them a marriage to a titled gentleman.

The school itself has its secrets, though, including the existence of several spirits, strange beings, and other unexplained phenomena.

Miss Cecily King-Jones' father died of consumption when she was quite young, leaving Mrs. King-Jones to support the family all on her own. Mrs. King-Jones resents the life she has been forced to lead, and has sent Cecily to Lady Elias in the hope that her daughter will have a better life.

Cecily's mother has made it clear that she should marry no less than a Marquess, and has put great pressure on her to do so as soon as possible. Cecily, however, has no such plans. In fact, were it possible, she would be content to remain at Lady Elias forever. She has considered applying to teach at the school once she graduates, although she knows her mother will never allow it.

Cecily is the school's undefeated Archery champion, and has even been known on occasion to compete against the boys at Lady Elias' brother school, Lord Manchester.

Miss Cassandra Sandsmark, whose father is likewise deceased, is the daughter of a lady archeologist. Before attending Lady Elias, Cassandra accompanied her mother on adventures throughout the Continent, travelling by airship. This early exposure to the marvels of modern life left Cassandra with a lifelong desire to take to the skies.

As such, Cassandra is at the top of her class in aviation (taught by the famed aviatrix Miss Zinda Blake), as well as in history and English literature. Being raised by a woman with little regard for social conventions also has its downside, for Cassandra is closer to the bottom when it comes to etiquette.

Cassandra shares her roommate Cecily's distaste for the idea of noble marriage. Although she has been courted by Conner Ellis, Viscount Cadmus, of whom she is rather fond, she does not feel ready to give up her girlhood just yet.

Miss Greta Hayes, Cecily and Cassandra's third roommate, has in fact been deceased for several years. She was a student at Lady Elias when the school first opened, the daughter of a wealthy industrialist. Her father doted on little Greta, which provoked jealousy in her elder brother, William. Discovering that their father had named Greta and not William as his heir was the final straw for William, whose grisly murder of his sister is still whispered about by the girls at Lady Elias.

Greta's natural state is purely invisible, although she can make herself seen if she so chooses. In this way she is able to sit in on lessons without being seen and frightening the still-living students. Cecily and Cassandra she views as her only friends, being the first students to treat her as the little girl she still feels herself to be.

Despite her occasionally terrible appearance, which is enhanced by the omnipresent stains on her dress, Greta generally appears as a happy-go-lucky, kind-hearted girl.

...You guys, I think I 'ship Cassie/Cissie even more in this universe than in the regular DCU. And I wish my scanner would stop fucking up the reds. None of the shading shows up!
