HAPPY NEW YEAR

So last night, as is traditional, myself,
chavamara, and
lufwood_emilius watched as many movies as physically possible. This year we reached our goal of staying up 'til seven in the morning (last year we only made it to about three, because we were drinking. This year we were just drinking tea, so it all worked out.)
What we do is, we alternate who is in charge of what to watch, from a collective pool of Things That Seem Fun Or Interesting. (This year they placed a restriction that I was not allowed to pick Sad Rock Star Movies, we tried to keep it lighthearted.)
We watched Lilo and Stitch (Lufwood's pick), which is the actual adorablest movie ever and I hadn't seen it in ages. And then Scott Pilgrim (Chava's pick), which somehow none of us had seen yet. I think I am doing it wrong, because all through the movie (and the books, although I never read volume 6) I wanted Scott and Ramona not to end up together, to go off and learn to be grown-ups for a bit instead.
And then it was midnight but we had forgot to acquire champagne so we drank shots of fireball instead. But we still wore silly hats, so it works?
Then it was my turn, and I picked Ferris Bueller (the plan was originally going to be to watch The Trotsky, but I have seen that several times in the last few weeks already, so) and (as always) I had a lot of ~~feelings about problem solving through cunning use of threesomes. And then I ruined the movie for everyone by telling them that Jeffrey Jones is a registered sex offender. (Hey, if I have to know this, so does everyone else.)
And then Valiant, which is a CGI animated film that nobody seems to have seen, in which Ewan McGregor, Ricky Gervais, Hugh Laurie, and John Cleese are WWII homing pigeons and Tim Curry is a Nazi falcon. It's probably not actually a very good movie, but I've never seen it while fully awake so I don't really know.
Then we were fading, so we made tea. And then Chava picked Under The Red Hood, which, excellent, because it meant I didn't have to pick it. And then I had a lot of feelings about Jason Todd and kind of told tumblr all about them, because it was four in the morning by this point. Highlights included Lufwood (not at all a Bat-fan) realising this took place after Steph was dead and getting righteously indignant at the lack of a memorial, and Lufwood talking during one of Bruce and Jay's Confrontations and me yelling at her, "SHUT UP THEY'RE HAVING FEELINGS."
Then my last pick was St. Trinian's, but by that point I was so tired that only the lizardbrain was really working properly, so I sort of told tumblr all about my colossal crush on Gorgeous Schoolgirl Criminal Mastermind Kelly Jones. With pictures. Because shouting at the internet = slightly less awkward than shouting at my IRL friends sitting next to me.
AND THEN WE SLEPT FOREVER. BECAUSE IT WAS SEVEN IN THE MORNING. (By "forever" I mean "for a few hours." But I've run on way less than six hours sleep before, so.")
